How can technology help drive effective resource management for a multiskilled workforce in a constantly changing environment?

Agriculture and Rural Economy Directorate, Scottish Government

The Challenge

The existing resource planning, allocation, management and reporting system is profoundly manual, and this means it’s static and labour intensive. But we work in an environment in which workloads, resources and deadlines change frequently, and people often have to work across different teams and locations. We need a system that is able to respond to the continually changing conditions, is flexible and dynamic. The ability to match the right resources with the right skills to meet changing tasks and deadlines is vitally important.

ITER IDEA

The Solution

AIRP Resource Planner is a platform that sustains multiskilled and dynamic teams in solving complex resource planning challenges. The system finds optimal solutions in seconds through constraint programming techniques, unlocking unprecedented efficiency. An intuitive UI helps users get tips to balance pressure, chase business objectives and learn from data via a Human-in-the-loop approach. Compared to the tested mainstream software, AIRP provides:

  • Prompt what-if computation and predictive capabilities

  • Flexible mapping of custom constraints without writing macros

  • Actionable widgets and optimisation strategies

The Opportunity

The market size for Advance Planning Software is surging to $3bn in 5 years, involving various sectors, private and public. Lacking optimisation leads to waste, uncertainty, pressure and delays that might be anticipated with the right tool to enable resource planning to be strategic and no longer a burden.

Next Steps

Through its work with the Scottish Government, AIRP aims to prove the benefits and enter the UK Market, building the trust needed to support new public sectors organisations and reach sustainability.

AIRP will map new scheduling problems and build a network of advisors and partners.

The Team

The team has 10+ years’ experience developing cloud-native applications, supporting 50+ SMEs and scaleups to solve digitalisation challenges in the productivity space.
